Robert S. Rice, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and he is an expert at diagnosing and treating a wide spectrum of orthopedic conditions and sports-related injuries. He is especially skilled in arthroscopic surgeries of the knee and shoulder as well as fracture repair.

Dr. Rice brings a wide range of skills and training to his practice at Tanner Clinic. The Northern Utah native received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and earned his M.D. from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at the highly-ranked Mayo Clinic located in Rochester, Minnesota where he was named the “Trauma Resident of the Year” in 2009. Dr. Rice continued his training with a sports medicine fellowship at Taos Orthopedic Institute in Taos, New Mexico.

Outside of work, Dr. Rice enjoys skiing, camping, hunting, golfing, riding four-wheelers, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
